10/16/21; Week 5: Culture Paradigms
Culture influences the language for example,
two people can see the very same event and if they are from different cultures
they can interpret it very differently. One will interpret it as very noble
behavior the other one may interpret it as hypo
critical behavior because their
complex paradigms are vastly different.
Learning about culture paradigms help me to understand how I can prepare myself to teach. In my opinion, one of the appropriate ways in order that the learners can be intercultural users is that they need to be exposed with some models of paradigms with the characteristics like they are not English native speakers, but they can use English well and master intercultural communicative competence. It would be a challenge in a TESOL classroom, but success in a TESOL classroom would be that every students connect cultures from different countries, especially students who are developing more than one language, they have to share traditions, something that embrace their culture.
I think that a
teacher could help resolve challenges and celebrate successes from diferente ways.
For example, making cultural interchanges in the classroom, so students can
share, and break paradigms about their cultures.
